COMMUNICATION, PUBLIC OPINION, MEDIA

2025-04-08

Jel-Kép, a peer-reviewed journal published by the Hungarian Society for Communication
Sciences and classified as category "A" by the Sociology Committee of the Department of
Economics and Law of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, welcomes manuscripts on the
following topic:
CfP - Religion and Communication: Experience, Community, Media
The Jel-Kép journal is planning a thematic issue in 2025 entitled “Religion and Communi
cation: Experience, Community, Media”.
The relationship between religion and communication, religion and media, has long been
analyzed in both communication and media research, both internationally and in Hungary. The
topic of the issue touches on issues of religion in many contexts of communication. We are
looking forward to writings and research relevant to social communication that focus on issues
of the public appearance of religion (offline and online), its visibility in the media, and its
framing. Studies on the exploration of the communication patterns of religious groups and
communities appearing on online platforms are also among the preferred questions of the
thematic issue. We are also looking forward to studies that provide analyses and typologies of
religious experience from a communication perspective. And touching on the latest phenomena,
on the issues of artificial intelligence and religion, we are looking for articles that present and
analyze the practices and ethical regulations of individual religions and religious communities
regarding the use of artificial intelligence. With this thematic issue, Jel-Kép fills a gap, as the
topic rarely appears in Hungarian social science journals.
We are looking for studies in English for the thematic issue.
