The Mission Work of the Reformed Church in Hungary among the Gypsies – Mission, Practice and Social Responsibility

Abstract

The study examines the theological and romological dimensions of Roma mission in the Reformed Church in Hungary, highlighting the complex interrelation between these fields. The central thesis of the article is proper understanding of Roma mission requires a comprehensive exploration of the historical, sociological, and social realities of Roma communities. Similarly, the theological analysis of the study is based on the interpretive frameworks of missio Dei and mission from the margins, emphasizing that marginalized communities are not merely objects of mission but acting as active missionaries. Theological inquiry of the article emphasizes that the essence of mission lies in participating in the Triune God’s mission, and recognizing the fellowship and interdependence in Christ. Consequently, Roma mission is not merely a social responsibility, but a theological and missiological calling that shapes the life of the entire Church.
