The stakeholders' perspective. Anthropological documentaries as pedagogical tools in the fields of education and social sciences

Abstract

In my work as a university lecturer, I place great emphasis on the use of visual methods. In my study I present the application of these methods in my courses, drawing on my teaching experience. The courses I teach are related to social sciences and education. The purpose of using visual methods is twofold. On the one hand, to promote participatory teaching and, on the other hand, to convey social work methods and pedagogical workflows in a non-purely theoretical way.

The courses are based on the joint analysis and processing of anthropological documentaries which present socio-cultural processes in the life of the local communities surveyed from the point of view of the local communities concerned. In this way, they shed light on the more important contexts of the social processes of the community and on the characteristics of the situations of coexistence.
